Today we share with you an event which supports those in our community who choose to do something courageous with their talents for those in need. Meritage Realty Group invites you to join us for drinks and appetizers on Thursday, June 28th at 6pm for a fundraiser for the group United Servants Abroad.
United Servants Abroad sends teams of volunteers on a short term basis to areas such as: Mexico, Peru, Colombia, China, The Bahamas, Brazil, Kosovo, Albania and Bolivia. These volunteers consist of construction teams, medical teams, and dental teams that travel around the globe to help others. The group is gearing up for their next mission. A group of surgeons, joined by nurses and medical technicians, will be going to Peru for one week. This group will average 100 surgeries during this short period of time. Come hear from one of the surgeons who will be joining this amazing mission. The trip will be exciting and challenging, emotional and physical. One of the goals of this trip is to bring fun, life and love to these areas, and provide help and care to the people. For the teams that volunteer it is a life changing experience. We are reaching out to all of you to help make this a success.
We will also be featuring the largest private collection of artifacts from the Columbian Exposition of 1893, also known as the Chicago’s World Fair. The Fair was held in Chicago in 1893 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’ arrival in the New World in 1492. Chicago bested New York City; Washington, D.C.; and St. Louis for the honor of hosting the fair. The fair had a profound effect on architecture, the arts, Chicago’s self-image and American industrial optimism.
